FINE QING DYNASTY LACQUER AND GOLD DECORATED ROUND BOX. The black lacquer box with fitted and conforming lid decorated with a pair of opposing five-toed dragons centering a SHOU character signifying life and longevity, amidst cloud bands within a floral scrolling border. The sides with reserves of gilt phoenix. The base with a gilt five-toed dragon, a floral and fruit filled bowl in his grasp. The interior in black lacquer, the lid with a central half-round support marked with a six character Ming Dynasty Wanli mark. We are not certain of vintage & cannot guarantee the correctness of this mark. SIZE: 5-1/4″ h x 16-1/2″ dia. PROVENANCE: Property of Prince Duan Aixinjueluo Zaiyi (1856-1922). From the private collection of the grandniece of the Last Emperor Puyi (reign 1906-1917) of the Qing Dynasty. Granddaughter of Puji and great-great granddaughter of the Dowager Empress Cixi (reign 1861-1908). CONDITION: With overall craquelure, the original surfaces with minor wear throughout.
