SCARCE SAVAGE MODEL 1861 RIFLE MUSKET. Cal. .58. 42″ part oct bbl. Dated 1863 at the rear of the lockplate, 1864 at the top of the bbl. Has no cartouche but does have a “N.J” cartouche on the left side of the stock. Standard “SAVAGE R. F. A. Co. / MIDDLETOWN, Ct.” on the lockplate. CONDITION: Metal is fine with scattered light surface rust. The wood has been lightly cleaned on the right side of the forearm just in front of the lock, otherwise fine. The lock is fine.
