*WONDERFUL BOSS DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 20 ga. SN 8177. Fabulous little upland gun with 26” bbls, choked IMP MOD/IMP CYL, proofed one ounce, 2-3/4” chambers, raised matted rib, with the bead removed. The bbls are marked with the maker’s name & address. It is fitted with single non-selective trigger & ejectors and is on a full sidelock self-opening action. It has very nicely grained French walnut with checkered splinter forearm & straight stock, 14-3/4” over a checkered butt. The stock has raised teardrop side panels with a right hand trigger guard and the trigger is right hand. The lockplates, receiver, trigger guard, opening lever and forend iron are all beautifully engraved with extremely fine English rose & scroll arabesque pattern engraving. The top tang has “SAFE” inlaid in gold, the lockplates have gold line cocked indicators and the company’s name is on each sideplate. The buttstock has a gold initial plate, which is engraved “J.T.McM.”, which corresponds with the name “J.T. McMillan” that appears on the lid of the accompanying chocolate brown leather case. The case is red felt lined with maker’s labels in the lid and contains a square nickeled Boss oil bottle and a pair of Boss snap caps, along with a 2-pc brass & ebony wiping rod with implements in the end compartment. Weight 5 lbs. 15.2 oz. Drop at the heel 1-7/8”, drop at the comb 1-1/4”, with a slight cast off. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbls retain about 95% strong original blacking with light muzzle & edge wear, slightly thinned above the forearm at the grasping point. Lockplates & receiver retain about 95% strong, bright, original case colors with light edge wear. Trigger guard & lower tang retain about 60% bright blue and the wood is sound and retains most of its fine oil finish. Case is sound with the lid being slightly warped and retains most of its fine finish. 4-50358 JR754 (25,000-35,000)
