RARE PARKER BROTHERS B GRADE HAMMER GUN. SN 26498. Cal. 10ga, 30″ bbls, tapered, concave rib with single brass sighting bead, 3-1/4″ chambers, extractors and dbl triggers. Top rib of bbl is marked “PARKER BROS MAKERS. MERIDEN CONN. DAMASCUS STEEL”. The number “4” size action is beautifully engraved with a pointer and setter pointing snipe on left plate, a setter and pointer with grouse on right plate; both plates have ribbon marked “PARKER BROS”. Bottom of receiver has circle with pointer pointing grouse on tree stump with evergreens in the background. Trigger plate is marked “PAT’D / MAR 23 / 1875″ and a single duck in flight. Balance of plates and body OF receiver engraved with flower blossoms and a fine foliate arabesque scroll. Fences are sculpted and fluted with scroll engraving. Hammers & top lever have fine foliate arabesque scrolls. Mounted with dark, highly figured walnut, spear tip drop points, blank gold shield on top of wrist, checkered pistol grip with sculpted hard rubber grip cap with checkered center, checkered skeleton butt, blank gold oval, checkered splinter forend. Bore diameter: left -.805, right -.800. Bore restrictions: left -.023, right -.025. Wall thickness: left -.049, right -.051. Drop at heel:3-1/8″, drop at comb:2-1/8″. Weight: 10lbs. 8oz. LOP 14”. The book Parker Gun Identification and Serialization identify as D5 Grade, B Grade with Damascus bbls, top action, capped pistol grip, 10ga with 30″ bbls. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain a brown Damascus finish that is thinning & blending with silver patina, some spots that are dark and normal minor nicks & dings. Receiver has traces of orig color in protected areas but is mostly a smooth silver patina blending with brown patina across the bottom. Stock is sound with tiny hairline crack off of top tang, slightly worn checkering, typical minor nicks, dings & shallow dents retaining a fine oil finish blending with hand-worn patina through grip area. Forend is sound with good checkering, normal nicks, dings & small dents and retains a oil finish blending with hand-worn patina. Mechanics are crisp, average bores with scattered, shallow pitting. 4-40153 BDT98 (8,000-12,000)
