QING DYNASTY CARVED SOAPSTONE BRUSH BOWL. 18th century. This signed example depicting travelers approaching a bridge, three male figures seated at a table, buildings within mountainous treed landscapes. The variegated soapstone ranging from pale celadon green through rich terracotta tones and dark brown. Side of the bowl with three character signature incised on a rocky outcropping. SIZE: 2-1/2″ h x 5-3/4″ dia. PROVENANCE: Property of Prince Duan Aixinjueluo Zaiyi (1856-1922). From the private collection of the grandniece of the Last Emperor Puyi (reign 1906-1917) of the Qing Dynasty. Granddaughter of Puji and great-great granddaughter of the Dowager Empress Cixi (reign 1861-1908). CONDITION: Very good overall with nicely worn surfaces. 9-22148 (3,000-5,000)
