WILLIAM THOMSON (American, 20th Century) STUDY FROM A THOMAS EAKINS WORK. Watercolor portrait of Thomas Eakins work “Portrait of Professor Gross (the Gross Clinic, 1875). The view shows him from the chest up looking slightly to the side wearing a brown coat and gray hair. One of his series in The Lost Drawings of Eakin. Signed lower right “Thomson”. Housed in a gilt and stained wood frame with ivory matte. Thomson studied in Connecticut under Ernst Lohrmann, at the Paier Art School, and at the Meriden Trade School. His solo exhibitions include the Van Ward Gallery in Boston and Oqunquit, ME. SIZE: Sight: 15-1/4″ x 21-1/4″. PROVENANCE: Collection of Elwyn Dearborn, Medford, NJ; Portland, ME.
