SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1855 CADET RIFLE. Cal. 64. NSN. 38” part oct bbl. The pull is 12-3/4” Stock is 48-1/2” long. Distance between rear two bbl bands is 10”, the same as it is for the distance between the front two bands. Cut for the front bbl spring extends beyond the spring to the brass forearm tip. Lockplate is dated 1858. No date or inspector marks are visible on bbl or upper tang. Maynard primer device is missing the holding pawl and both springs. Primer lid catch is broken. CONDITION: Gray/brown patina with light to moderate pitting overall, heavier at breech. Wood is chipped behind lock and along forearm. Cracks and chips around lockplate. Mechanically needs work.
