CHINESE MUST GO ANIMATED CAP GUN. AN5. Manufactured by Ives, circa 1880. Place cap in Chinaman’s mouth and man with derby strikes Chinaman in rear, closing Chinaman’s mouth and exploding cap. This piece is historically significant in that it represents the conflict that arose when the Chinese were brought to this country to work on the railroad. The regional workingmen were upset because cheap labor was taking their jobs away. SIZE: 4-3/4″ l. CONDITION: Excellent. Retains over 90% of original japanned finish. MC 1-4238 (700-900)
