WOODEN FRATERNAL SOCIETY TRUNK. This turn of the century, 3-tiered wooden trunk, painted in green, red and cream, is for the Heroines of Jericho, presumably a sorority in the Boston area. Trunk is stenciled on front “Instituted AD May 10, 1888”. Painted banner on lid reads “AM 1553”. The reverse is stenciled with sorority’s name, “Number 1, Boston, Mass.” The interior has space for removable shelves (not present). SIZE: 29 ½” w. x 30 ½” t. x 16 ½” d. CONDITION: Molding is missing in several spots, top shows wear and scratching, cream portion has been overpainted, with the original lettering remaining. Lock and hasp are attached (no key), but hasp has been forced open in one spot. 1-1562 (250-500)
