*WINCHESTER MODEL 63 SEMI-AUTO RIFLE WITH TEXAS LAW ENFORCEMENT CONNECTION. Cal. 22 LR. SN 126345. Blue finish with 23″ tapered rnd bbl, standard open sights, grooved top receiver with a Weaver 22 scope. It has uncheckered wood with semi-pistol grip stock and checkered steel buttplate. Also included is a reproduced cover of the Sheriff’s Association of Texas Magazine of August 1947, which has a picture on the cover of Boss Thorpe and his twin grandsons, Bruce Ray & Brent Jay, the sons of Mr. & Mrs. Ray H. Rade. Also included is a copy of a photograph of Boss Thorpe as a young police chief. There is also a copy of an article from The Austin American, October 11, 1954, which has an article about Boss Thorpe beginning his 27th year as Austin Chief of Police. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl retains about 95% strong orig blue and the receiver about 90%, thin on the bottom. Wood is sound with numerous small nicks, scratches & dings and retains about 95% varnish on the butt stock and 70% on the forearm. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore. Scabbard is also fine. 4-53900 JR714 (750-1,250)
