THOMAS MATTISON FAMILY EARLY AMERICAN SPONGE DECORATED AND STENCILED BLANKET CHEST, SHAFTSBURY, VT. The rectangular hinged lid opening to the well with till, fitted to the conforming case with shaped boot jack ends and frontal shaped bracket feet with molded base. The whole in original reddish-brown paint with dark brown smoked and sponged decoration, each surface with simulated gold toned string outline, the bracket base in chocolate brown paint. SIZE: 25” h x 47” w x 20-3/4” d. CONDITION: Original painted and decorated surfaces showing acceptable wear, minor losses to right front foot facing. 9-74856 HP (4,000-6,000)
