*WINCHESTER DELUXE LIGHTWEIGHT TAKEDOWN MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal 33WCF. SN 154185. Special order deluxe rifle with 24” tapered lightweight bbl, ivory bead hunting front sight with flat top rear sight, 1/2 magazine and is a takedown. Also has oil finished checkered stock and forearm in “H” style checkering with capped pistol grip and checkered steel buttplate. Accompanied by a postcard from the Winchester Gun Museum, dated June 16, 1975, signed by T.E. Hall identifying this rifle as having been shipped August 9, 1917 to Abercrombie & Fitch. Also accompanying are copies of the letter written by the owner at that time to Mr. Hall, requesting the information and a copy of the bill of sale for this rifle, for $424.00, dated 6/3/1975. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl and magazine tube retain 96-97% strong bright original blue with an area of fine pitting on the bbl. Receiver takedown ring is a brown patina with very fine rust pitting. Receiver retains 80-85% original blue, thin on the top, brown patina on the bottom with fine pitting with deeper pitting on the right side. Left side is slightly thin around the edges. Stock has a hairline back of the top tang, otherwise the wood is sound and retains most of its fine original oil finish with some minor bruising in the checkering.
