*RARE EARLY SMITH & WESSON MODEL 29-2 5″ REVOLVER. Cal. 44 Mag. SN S252059. Blue finish with rare 5″ heavy ribbed bbl with red ramp & white outline sights, target trigger & hammer with diamond checkered walnut magnum grips. Bbl, frame & cylinder have numerous British proofs. Knowledgeable S&W collectors confirm this as one of very few Mod 29’s found to have British proof markings. Contained in oorig and seldom seen mahogany “clamshell” presentation case with tools and cardboard sleeve. One of approx. 1000, Mod 29’s mfd. with a 5” bbl!! Accompany a factory letter confirms shipped as configured to England in 1965 for Keith Perks, owner of Cornwall Firearms, S&W’s UK distributor. Perks was a prominent S&W collector for many years and due to his position was able to order many non-catalogued items, such as this revolver. CONDITION: Very fine to extremely fine. Overall retains about 97-98% strong bright orig factory blue with some light muzzle edge wear & slight thinning on each side of bbl with fine edge wear elsewhere.
