WINCHESTER SPECIAL ORDER MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal 40-82. SN 94642. Standard grade rifle with special order 28” oct bbl, full magazine, half-nickel front sight and semi-buckhorn rear sight. It has the additional very rare feature of a stud and ring in the left side of the receiver. It has uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent buttplate. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum yellow sheet identifying this rifle and indicating shipment on 9/3/1895 to order number 19165. The saddle ring is not mentioned but appears to have been in place for a long time. CONDITION: Extremely fine, as new. Retains virtually all its original factory finish to both metal and wood. Bbl has very light edge wear and some minor light surface spotting near the muzzle. Receiver retains 98-99% strong bright case colors, only slightly muted. Forend cap retains most of its original case colors, faded toward gray. Lever and hammer retain most of their original case colors with the lever bow slightly faded. Buttplate retains about 70% silvered case colors. Wood is sound and retains most of its original fine varnish under a light coating of wax. Bright shiny bore with a few scattered spots of light pitting. 4-51484 JR881 (17,500-22,500)
