*EXTREMELY RARE COLT COURIER MODEL DA REVOLVER WITH BOX. SN 28217LW. Cal. 32 Colt/32 S&W. Black anodized finish on its “Coltalloy” frame with matching Coltalloy cylinder. It has 3″ bbl with integral fixed sights and hammer with polished sides. Grips are full checkered walnut with silver Colt medallions. According to The Book of Colt Firearms, Sutherland & Wilson, this model and its 22 caliber sister “are the Cobra model with stubbier butts”. Accompanied by its orig matching numbered, chocolate brown, hinged lid box with twisted wire handle cleaning brush in orig paper sleeve, two bifold instruction pamphlets and a “NOTICE TO GUNSMITHS” advising them not to attempt to remove the bbl. According to the referenced publication there were only about 3,000 of these revolvers made in both calibers in the period 1953-1956. Referenced publication also indicates that the cylinders were steel but, as indicated, this revolver has an alloy cylinder with steel bbl. CONDITION: Extraordinarily fine, as new. Appears to be completely unfired retaining virtually all of its crisp orig factory finish with only a faint cylinder line. Cylinder is now seized with old dried oil. Grip is crisp with only slight diamond point wear from the box. Box is fine with the front corners of lid broken, one of which is taped. 4-39282 JR295 (1,000-2,000)
