SCARCE WINCHESTER SPECIAL ORDER MODEL 1886 RIFLE. Cal 50EX. SN 73246. Scarce special order express rifle with 26” rnd bbl, ivory bead front sight (probably English) with three leaf platinum line express sight (one leaf broken away) and uncheckered wood with straight stock and smooth steel buttplate. The receiver, lever, hammer, and forend cap are case colored and there are small British proofs on the bbl, receiver, and bolt. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum yellow sheet completely identifying this gun and indicating shipment on 12/14/1892 to order number 9001. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains 95-97% original satin blue. Receiver retains about 90% strong original case colors, very bright on the right side, muted elsewhere and faded to silver on the bottom. Lever and forend cap retain 40-50% case colors and the hammer about 90%. Buttplate retains traces of original blue with a balance a light patina. Stock has an old crack by the top tang, otherwise retains most of an old professionally restored finish. Brilliant shiny bore. 4-51485 JR872 (13,000-18,000)
