AMERICAN VICTORIAN AESTHETIC MOVEMENT LACQUERED SIDE TABLE. Circa 1880. Lacquered and decorated in the Japanese taste, the octagonal top overlaid with gilt-decorated cloud bands, centering a circular silk insert wrought with fanciful water flowers. The frieze gilt-decorated and red lacquered, each corner applied with carved gilt foo dogs, raised on a spiral-turned tripod telescope base. SIZE: 29″ h. x 23-1/2″ overall dia. CONDITION: The silk insert with glass top appears to have been re-attached and re-lacquered. Otherwise very good overall. No structural defects; however, medial connector is missing top finial. 9-94457 (500-750)
