CONNECTICUT EMPIRE TRIPLE DECKER SHELF CLOCK, PROBABLY GEORGE, MARSH & CO. The mahogany case crested with a presenting eagle, the central door in two parts, opening to a painted dial with gilt heightened spandrels, the brass eight day works stamped “Birge and Fuller, Bristol, Conn., USA”. The case interior with remnant of original label, the lower door panel with painted eglomise scene flanked by freestanding columns joined to the box base with cyma curved supports centering the lower door with pendulum aperture and painted eglomise panel on a stepped plinth supported by frontal ball feet. PROVENANCE: Fine private Long Island, New York mansion. SIZE: 38” h x 17-3/4” w. CONDITION: Case in very fine original condition, eglomise panels in very good condition, probably later replacements. Brass works appear to have been cleaned and restored. 9-74023 SM (800-1,200)
