AMERICAN AESTHETIC MOVEMENT CARVED EASEL. Circa 1890. Of typical A-frame form, incise-carved with floral decorations and spooled elements, the crest having inset molded floral panels. The upper half fitted with a viewing shelf, the lower half fitted with a compartment, the incised hinged lid with a central panel depicting sunflowers centering an antelope on rocky surface, opening to a storage compartment. SIZE: 73″ h. x 36″ w. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: Made of an unidentified hardwood, refinished in a dark chocolate brown color.
