BLACK FOREST CUCKOO CLOCK. Late 19th/early 20th Century. This nicely carved example surmounted by a stag’s head and pierced oak leaf spray, the wood dial with applied Roman numerals, flanked by game trophies centering crossed rifles and pouch, the wooden pendulum with oak leaf. Clock with original brass chain-driven movement, original iron pinecone weights engraved with numeral “5”; the carved and painted cuckoo bird flanked by two bellows and coiled spring striker for musical movement. SIZE: 25″ l. x 18″ w. PROVENANCE: From an East Sangerville, Maine private collection. Acquired during travels in Germany. CONDITION: Case and carvings in good condition overall, with some damage and losses to rabbit’s feet. 9-94962 (250-350)
