SPECIAL ORDER DELUXE WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 38 WCF (38-40). SN 107942. 3rd model rifle with special order 26” oct bbl, case colored receiver, full magazine, Lyman front sight with 3-leaf platinum line express carbine rear sight and a large loop Lyman tang sight. It has dark, highly figured wood with checkered forearm & pistol grip stock with black insert and crescent buttplate with trap. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter completely identifying this rifle and indicating it was shipped June 23, 1883 to order #4839. CONDITION: About fine. Bbl retains about 90% original blue turning plum around the edges. Magazine tube is a plum/blue. Receiver retains 20-25% case colors in sheltered areas with the balance turned silver, it has scattered freckles of fine surface rust. Wood is sound with the varnish turned dark and the forearm has shrunk leaving a small gap. Wood overall has normal handling & use marks with a series of small bruises & scratches on the buttstock and a long scratch on the forearm. Mechanics are fine and has a strong bright bore with scattered light pitting. 4-51488 JR797 (6,000-9,000)
