WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 SADDLE RING CARBINE. Cal 44WCF (44-40). SN 361239. Beautiful 3rd model ’73 carbine with 20” bbl, full magazine, square base barleycorn front sight with 1873 marked ladder carbine rear sight. It has a staple and ring on left side of receiver and uncheckered wood with straight stock and carbine buttplate with trap containing an original three-piece brass and iron, wiping rod. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum yellow sheet identifying this carbine and indicating shipment on 1/10/1891. CONDITION: Extremely fine as issued. Retains about 97-98% strong, bright, original blue overall with very slight sharp edge wear and a light scratch or two on the metal and wood. Left side plate and front sides of the receiver have widely scattered very fine pinpoints of light rust, also a few on the bbl. Loading gate retains most of its thin niter blue. Wood retains most of its original finish with light handling and storage marks on both stock and forearm and one light bruise. Lever and hammer retain muted case colors. Bright shiny bore with a few spots of light pitting. 4-51486 JR871 (13,000-18,000)
