*RARE COLT MODEL 1903 U.S. PROPERTY SEMI-AUTO PISTOL. SN 561708. Cal. 32 ACP. Rare blue finish, one of only about 3,000 pistols with blue finish U.S. Property marked near the end of production. This pistol has a 3-3/4″ bbl, fixed sights and full checkered walnut grips with silver Colt medallions and is accompanied by an orig 2-tone magazine with marked base. Right side of frame is marked “U.S. PROPERTY”. The U.S. Government purchased approx. 200,000 Model 1903 pistols in both 32 ACP and 380 ACP in the period 1941-1945 with them acquiring the 3,000 blue finish pistols from regular assembly at the tail end of production. Reference The Book of Colt Firearms, Sutherland & Wilson. PROVENANCE: John Irwin Estate Collection. CONDITION: Very fine to extremely fine. Overall retains about 98% strong orig factory blue with only light sharp edge wear and some minor dulling of right rear edge of grip frame. Front strap is strong & clean with back strap showing some slight thinning. Grips have a few scattered chipped diamonds and show light to moderate wear on right side.
