FINE CARVED STONE BIRD MARKED “ASPREY 79”. The blueish/green quartz type stone in the form of a perched bird similar to a hawk. The wings are folded close to the body, the well carved head having yellow and black inset eyes and an attached tiger eye and ebony beak with red tongue. The two legs and talon feet in metal, possibly silver. The bird has pins at the bottom of the legs which fit into the removable agate base in tree trunk form. The base pencil inscribed “Asprey 79”. Asprey is a high end luxury retail store based in London. SIZE: 10-1/4″ h x 10-1/2″ l total. CONDITION: One wing tip repaired, otherwise good. 9-95278 (1,500-2,500)
