VERY RARE CASED MODEL 1893 BORCHARDT SEMI-AUTO PISTOL WITH ACCESSORIES. SN 339. Cal. 30 Borchardt. Made by Loewe of Berlin with 7-1/2″ tapered rnd bbl, pinned front sight with loewe chamber markings & patent markings on toggle. It has “BUG” proofs on bbl with “BU” proofs on frame. Right side of frame is marked “SYSTEM BORCHARDT.PATENT.”. Fitted with nicely checkered walnut grips. Accompanied by an orig green felt lined Borchardt case compartmented in bottom for pistol, stock, three magazines, a dummy cleaning magazine, cheekpiece, screwdriver/cleaning rod handle & a leather covered tin of German vaseline. Holster, oil bottle, small tools & accessories are missing. It also has a homemade stock that was not completed & is missing the iron. Only about 1,100 of these complicated & well-made pistols were ever manufactured by two makers, Loewe & DWM and surviving examples are rare. CONDITION: Pistol is very fine to extremely fine. Overall retains 94-96% glossy orig blue with fire blue & straw colors remaining on various small parts. Back strap is a little thin with some surface freckling. All visible numbers are matching with matching numbered cheekpiece & three matching numbered orig magazines. Magazines are all fine with two of them retaining most of their orig nickel finish and third one about 90% orig nickel. Dummy magazine is fine with some minor chips around oil container& retains most of its orig finish. Accessories are fine. Case exterior is rough with a crack in lid & another in bottom but still retains about 85% of its orig black leatherette/oil cloth covering. Interior is lightly soiled & faded with wear from pistol. Pistol mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore. 4-33764 JR150 (15,000-20,000)
