WINCHESTER MODEL 1866 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 44 CF. SN 165136. Late standard grade rifle with oct bbl cut to 20″ with full magazine tube, modified front sight and a broken Henry style rear sight. It has uncheckered straight grain wood with straight grip & crescent brass buttplate with trap. It has early style forend cap with tab for sling swivel with a corresponding swivel in the buttstock. CONDITION: Poor to fair. No orig finish remains, with the iron being a silver/gray patina. Receiver battered & dinged with rounded edges. Replaced lever lock and two or three replaced screws. Stock has a hairline back of the top tang, on the right side of the wrist and the forearm has longitudinal crack with numerous nicks, dings & scratches and most of an old refinish. Extractor is missing. Mechanics are good, strong dark bore with two rings about mid-point. From the collection of the late Bruce McDowell. 4-54584 JR150 (1,000-2,000)
