Correction: Factory records indicate this gun was ordered with Blue finish. Shipped to Kruse & Bahlman, Cincinnati, Ohio, Jan. 2, 1929. 1 or 2 in shipment. *SCARCE NICKEL PRE-WAR COLT GOVERNMENT MODEL SEMI-AUTO PISTOL. SN C155359. Cal. 45 ACP. Nickel finish with 5″ bbl, orig thick fixed sights with wide full checkered spur hammer and long tang safety with checkered, arched spring housing. Fitted with silver medallion smooth pearl grips and accompanied by one orig nickel plated magazine. Pre-war nickel finish Government model pistols are scarce until about 1935 when nickel finish became available as a standard option. This pistol was produced in 1929. PROVENANCE: John Irwin Estate Collection. CONDITION: Very fine. Overall retains virtually all of its orig factory nickel with light muzzle end wear on the slide and fine scratches on the slide. Grips are sound with a couple of minor age lines and retain great fire & color. Mechanics are crisp, strong bore with good rifling, pitted in the grooves. 4-36812 JR41 (2,500-4,000)
