LATE 19th CENTURY BLACK PADDLE FLAPPER TOY. Most likely this early toy is of continental manufacture and consisting of wood and papier mache. Lifelike features to the black gentleman dressed as a soldier who is wearing a flocked outfit with cloth and painted accents. A wire suspending the figure and one would activate action by depressing rear of paddle, causing the figure to do a jig. SIZE: Approx 9-1/2″ t. CONDITION: Overall very fine plus, but dusty. 1-9204 (500-1,000)
