FRENCH THREE-PIECE ONYX GARNITURE CLOCK SET. Late 19th century. In the form of Greek or Roman temples, the green onyx clock fitted with an enamel dial, with open escapement, the brass plaque marked “M. LEDUC/BOULOGNE SUR MER”, above a frieze cast with frolicking cherubs, above a series of free-standing onyx Corinthian capitals and brass fluted columns, simulating porticos and galleries, the central beveled glass compartment mounted with a mercury pendulum; the stepped, shaped, and molded plinth cast with two additional brass panels, each depicting cherubs. The clock accompanied by a pair of complementary garnitures of similar design with dish tops. SIZE: 19″ h. of clock. 11″ h. of garniture. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: The set overall in original condition, with no noted restorations. One garniture missing small piece of onyx above frieze on base. 9-93364 (1,000-2,000)
