SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1842 PERCUSSION MUSKET. Cal about 62. Usual configuration with a 34” bbl, iron furniture with sling wires and 1-pc walnut stock. The left side of the stock is crudely carved with the name “DAVIS” and 4 other initials. The right side of the stock is carved with large initials “G.W.M.”. The lockplate is dated 1851. CONDITION: Good. Iron retains an even dark brown patina with heavy pitting around nipple area. Hammer nose is chipped. Stock has a couple of cracks back of the lockplate and through the wrist Otherwise contains an old patina showing heavy and hard use. Ramrod is a replacement. 4-50795 JR47 (400-700)
