SCARCE WINCHESTER MODEL 1893 PUMP ACTION SHOTGUN. Cal. 12ga. Winchester’s first attempt at a pump shotgun, only 34,000 produced 1893-1897. Design was apparently weak and a number of them blew up which prompted the redesigned Model 1897. This shotgun has 30” plain modified bbl, round ribbed 3-screw forearm and smooth semi-pistol grip stock with smooth steel buttplate. SN 1764. CONDITION: Good to very good. Bbl and magazine tube retain mostly a medium brown patina with about 30% blue on the mag tube. Receiver retains about 50% blue, mostly on right side with the balance brown patina and light rust. Stock has a chip at the wrist and a couple of hairline cracks and retains about 60% original varnish. Forearm is fine and retains about 90% varnish. Bright shiny bore. 4-48878 JR637 (400-700)
