REMINGTON RIFLED AND SIGHTED CONVERSION OF MODEL 1816 MUSKET. Cal. 72. NSN. 42-1/8” rnd bbl. Maynard primed lock is marked “REMINGTON’S / HERKIMER / N.Y. / U.S. / 1855” vertically at tail. “P. V” is engraved on the primer cover. Date is repeated on breechblock tang along with issue marks “K / 79”. Two “AV” cartouches are stamped on left flat of stock. Large sgl leaf sight is graduated to 4 on left side and to 8 on leaf. Front sight has been added to front bbl band. CONDITION: Very good to fine, with smooth gray patina overall, mixed with scattered light surface rust and pitting. Wood is fine with minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Wm.
