WINCHESTER MODEL 1876 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal 40-60. SN 55522. Standard grade rifle with 20-3/4” oct bbl, nearly full magazine with homemade front sight blade and semi-buckhorn rear sight, missing the elevator. Uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate with trap. Accompanied by a Winchester Firearms Museum postcard signed by T. E. Hall and dated June 14, 1974 identifying this rifle as having been shipped October 5, 1886. Bbl length is not mentioned. CONDITION: Good. Bbl and magazine tube cut to their present lengths. No original finish remains, metal being a mottled silver/gray patina. Wood is sound and retains most of a fine refinish with a couple of bruises on the forearm and a couple more on the buttstock. Strong bright bore with moderate pitting. Good mechanics. 4-50474 JR398 (750-1,250)
