COLONIAL REVIVAL MAHOGANY NINE-TUBE TALL CASE CLOCK. Circa 1905. Retailed by Smith Patterson Company, Boston, Massachusetts. The brass backplate marked “Germany”, the works probably Winterhalder and Hofmeier. The silver and brass filigree dial beneath a moon-phase aperture, having a strike/silent dial opposite a Withington/Westminster chime option. The architectural cove-molded bonnet mounted with three brass spire finials and supported by carved Ionic columns, centering the astragal-arched beveled glass door, mounted to the case with molded frieze above the throat fitted with beveled glass and molded sides and conforming door, flanked by engaged Ionic half columns on the cove-molded box base, paneled with applied cove moldings, raised on suppressed ball-and-claw feet. SIZE: 8’2-1/2″ h. x 24-1/2″ w. x 18-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: 1) Delaney’s Antique Clocks, West Townsend, Massachusetts. 2) From a fine Beacon Hill and Thomaston estate. CONDITION: Very good original surfaces, with old patina and no repairs or restoration. The face and movement professionally cleaned and in very fine condition. 9-93565 (3,000-6,000)
