ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: It has been noted that an unusual faint and thin halo-like effect exists along certain outside edges of the gold inlays. We asked one of the nation’s foremost firearms conservation experts to inspect these inlays under magnification and he has determined that they are appropriate, old, solid gold inlays applied to annealed steel, then case hardened and not the result of a plating process or later application to a pre-hardened surface. This expert shared with us that on rare occasions, he has observed this “boundary weeping affect” with gold inlays, which were subjected to high case hardening temperatures and also by lead contamination of the gold alloy. These inlays are from the period of the gun’s manufacture and not a recent addition or replacement. *INCREDIBLE LEFEVER A GRADE SIDE BY SIDE TWO BARREL SET WITH CASE. SN 45598.
