TWO JAPANESE CERAMIC VASES. Late 19th/Early 20th century. 1) Satsuma vase with polychrome floral reserves within gold borders. Body decorated overall in multicolored granules applied as a ground amongst gold gilded seaweed centering rayed fans. Unsigned. 2) Kutani vase with flared scalloped rim decorated with trees and banners. Neck applied with Foo dog handles. Body is decorated with polychrome Samurai warriors in challenging positions amongst shields and banners. Signed on underside. SIZE: 12″ h and 13″ h respectively. PROVENANCE: From the private collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones. CONDITION: Satsuma vase with allover craquelure and with vertical hairline crack. Kutani vase with fleabites to top rim as well as wear to glaze on handles. 9-23296 (600-800)
