FRENCH INLAID MAHOGANY GAMES BOX. Circa 1890. Of rectangular form with ebony stringing, the lid inlaid in ebony “JEUX.” (games). The interior fitted with a compartmented tray containing multiple games and game pieces. Beneath the tray is an additional compartment containing a pair of rackets, a jumprope and other wooden game pieces. Included are three sets of instructions, all in French: “Jeu du Baguenaudier” (game of patience, or Chinese rings); “Jeu de Marelle” (hopscotch); and “Jeu de la Ferme” (farm game). SIZE: Box: 5-1/2″ h. x 16-1/2″ l. x 11-1/4″ d. CONDITION: Case retains original surfaces with key, can be easily cleaned and repolished. Box appears to retain original contents for multiple games, overall in very nice condition; however, it is difficult to determine if all game pieces for all games are present. 9-95376 (1,000-1,500)
