ENGRAVED WINCHESTER MODEL 1866 LEVER ACTION CARBINE. Cal 44WCF. SN 47984. Early carbine with 20” bbl, full magazine, integral front band/sight with two position flip rear sight. It has straight stock with rifle, crescent buttplate with trap. It has been converted from rim fire to center fire. The receiver and buttplate have been after-market engraved with full coverage foliate patterns on the receiver and tang of the buttplate. The forearm band is also engraved and has an added sling swivel corresponding to one in the buttstock. CONDITION: Iron retains a medium to dark artificially aged patina with a series of nicks behind the rear sight. Receiver and buttplate retain most of a frosted gold plating. Wood is sound and retains most of an old refinish with several small scratches, nicks, and dings and a bruise on the forearm. Strong dark bore. 4-50510 JR167 (2,500-4,000)
