Cal. 16ga, 28″ bbls, matted, tapered, concave rib, single silver sighting bead, IMP.MOD/FULL chokes, 2-9/16″ chambers, extractors and dbl trigger. Top of right bbl is marked “STERLINGWORTH FLUID COMPRESSED STEEL”. Left bbl “MADE BY A.H. FOX GUN CO. PHILA. PA. U.S.A.” Standard receiver with zig-zag border and stamped “STERLINGWORTH” on each side. Mounted with straight grain walnut, checkered pistol grip, hard rubber grip cap, serrated hard rubber buttplate, checkered splinter forend. Bore diameter: left -.662, right -.662. Bore restrictions: left -.033, right -.018. Wall thickness: left -.034, right -.036. Drop at heel:3″, drop at comb:1-3/4″. Weight: 6lbs. 5oz. LOP 14-1/4″. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls retain 98% orig blue with some minor nicks & scratches and spot of very shallow surface oxidation over chamber of right bbl. Receiver retains 90% orig case colors, strong on side and across top, thinning and blending with silver patina through balance point. Stock is sound with nice flat-point checkering, a tiny chip at receiver and lower tang, some typical, minor nicks & dings and retains orig open grain finish. Forend is sound with good flat-point checkering, some minor nicks & dings and retains orig open grain finish. Mechanics are crisp, automatic safety, bright shiny bores with a couple tiny, shallow pits about halfway on each bbl. A really fine example of Philadelphia Sterlingworth. 4-40068 BDT85 (2,400-3,900)
