FINE PAIR OF HIGH STYLE VICTORIAN PARLOR CHAIRS ATTRIBUTED TO ALEXANDER ROUX OR LEON MARCOTTE. Ebonized and ormolu decorated frame has upholstered seat, padded arms and shaped upholstered back. The carved back has a rounded inset ormolu edge. This continues down the carved arms and legs and across the front skirt. There are nicely cast elements at the knees and the front legs rest on caster feet. Unmarked . Very nice quality. PROVENANCE: Believed to be from the Ex-Booth Tarkington Estate, Kennebunkport, Maine. SIZE: 37” h x 16-1/2” seat h x 24-1/2” across arms. CONDITION: Later upholstery, very good. 9-29152 (1000-2000)
