*FINE COLT MODEL 1911 SEMI-AUTO MILITARY PISTOL. SN 92137. All blue finish with 5″ military bbl that has connected proof marks perpendicular to the bore. Bottom of the bbl has a small “G” in front of the lug. Left side of frame has usual markings with 1913 last patent date. Right side of slide has “MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY” markings and it has original fixed sights. Left forward side of frame is marked “UNITED STATES PROPERTY” and has the “WGP” (Maj. Walter G. Pennfield) inspector initials. Right side of frame has serial number back of the slide lock pin hole. Is mounted with diamond checkered walnut grips and accompanied by an S-code two-tone lanyard loop magazine. This 1914 produced pistol has short grip safety spur and long hammer spur with flat mainspring housing. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Slide retains most of its original finish that has been heavily cleaned but not refinished and remains somewhat thin overall. Frame retains most of a professionally restored finish with some fine pitting on the right side of the frame and the trigger. Magazine retains thin original finish with light to moderate pitting. Grips are sound showing light to moderate wear with an oil stained finish. Mechanics are fine. Bright shiny bore. 4-39493 JR262 (1,000-2,000)
