*FANTASTIC UPGRADED STERLINGWORTH GUN COMPANY SIDE BY SIDE SHOTGUN 2 BARREL SET. SN 53886. Cal. 12ga, two 30″ bbls with matted, tapered concave ribs, dual white sighting beads, 2-3/4″ chambers, extractors and dbl triggers. Set one is choked SKEET/SKEET. Set two choked MOD/MOD. The bbls are marked identically with right bbl marked “STERLINGWORTH FLUID COMPRESSED STEEL MADE BY” and on left bbl “THE STERLINGWORTH COMPANY – PHILADELPHIA PA. U.S.A.” The muzzles of each bbl have 1-1/4″ wedge of oak leaf scroll with 2 gold acorns. Chamber of each bbl has 2″ wedge of oak leaf scroll and 4 gold acorns. Narrow gold band on each chamber and rib extensions marked in gold with roman numeral I and II. The rare hinge-pin frame has been extended at rear and scalloped and rebated. Engraving is relief oak leaf with stippled background with 3 gold acorns on each side. Bottom has gold jumping fox and gold quail in flight in a field scene. Fences, top tang and top lever are engraved with carved oak leaves. Pad of top lever and trigger guard bow are pierced in oak leaf pattern. Mounted with fiddle-back walnut, carved raised side panels, diamond shaped checkered straight grip, checkered butt with oak leaf engraved heel and toe plates, carved beavertail forend with wrap-around checkering, diamond center escutcheon with relief oak leaf engraving. Shipped from Philadelphia on November 9, 1910 to original consignee Prussia Hardware Co. CONDITION: Extremely fine, as professionally restored. Metal surfaces retain virtually all of their fine professional restored blue finish with just a couple minor handling marks. Stock is sound with sharp checkering, a couple minor, little nicks and retains virtually all of its fine custom hand-rubbed finish. Forends are sound with sharp checkering, only a couple minor small nicks and retains its custom hand-rubbed finish.
