EARLY ROOKWOOD POTPOURRI. Wonderful early Rookwood piece has round body with short neck, incised with overlapping circle design with gold gilding on the design and the reeded lip. Body is decorated with brown flowers, stems and leaves with a detailed butterfly hovering beside the flowers. The interesting potpourri lid is a double sided lid with the bottom mirroring the shape of the top, however the bottom finial has a hole into the hollow body of the top and there are small holes encircling the side of the lid allowing the potpourri scent to escape the jar. Jar is marked on the underside with a single flame Rookwood mark indicating 1887 and is artist signed “MAD” for Matthew A. Daly. SIZE: 7-1/4″ t.
