SCARCE WINCHESTER MODEL 1885 HIGH WALL RIFLE. Cal. 38 EX. SN 65348. Scarce caliber in this fine single shot rifle. It has 30” No. 3 weight rnd bbl with ivory bead combination front sight, 3-leaf platinum line, carbine express, rear sight and a Lyman loop tang sight. Mounted with straight grain, uncheckered, American walnut with black insert, semi-schnable tip forearm and straight stock with crescent buttplate. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Bbl retains 96-97% dull orig blue with only slight muzzle edge wear. Receiver retains 85-90% orig case colors, somewhat faded on sides and thin over top & bottom. Wood is sound with light handling & use nicks & scratches with the forearm retaining 60-70% orig varnish and buttstock about 95% orig varnish. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore with some fine orange peel pitting just in front of chamber. 4-30396 JR309 (4,500-6,500)
