Left side of frame has usual Colt markings with last patent date “1911”. Right side slide has commercial markings. Right side of frame has the “GOVERNMENT MODEL” and serial number markings above the magazine release. It has straight mainspring housing with lanyard loop and short grip safety with short wide hammer spur. Mounted with diamond checkered walnut grips and accompanied by a 2-tone lanyard loop magazine. This pistol was produced in 1914 and with its first type slide marking lends credence to the oft repeated information that Colt never threw anything away. CONDITION: Very fine. Slide retains 94-96% glossy orig blue with muzzle end and sharp edge wear with a couple of small scratches. Frame retains strong glossy blue on sides and bottom front with front strap retaining about 40% orig blue with balance a blue/gray patina. Grip safety retains strong blue with a thinned bottom edge and mainspring housing retains about 80-85% thinning orig blue. Magazine is fine retaining most of its orig dull blue with the white area having a coating of old dried oil. Grips are sound showing light diamond point wear. Mechanics are fine, strong bright bore with light frosting in the grooves. 4-39191 JR258 (2,500-3,500)
