NORTHWEST NATIVE AMERICAN BENTWOOD BOX AND BEADED BROOM. 19th century. The square box with bentwood sides, fitted with a conforming lid, with geometric linear incised design, highlighted with a red wash. One corner joined with rawhide stitching, the others with carved overlapping flange construction. Together with a grass brush or broom, bound with a woven beaded handle adorned with shells. SIZE: BOX: 15-1/2″ h. x 15″ sq. BROOM: 24″ overall l. CONDITION: The box retains original surfaces, somewhat worn and weathered. The lid with shrinkage split.
