CUSTOM WINCHESTER HIGH WALL TARGET RIFLE. Cal. 40-65. SN 51518. Beautiful custom built high wall with 30″, about #2 weight rnd bbl, spirit level Redfield globe front sight and a Michael Stevens reproduction Soule windage Vernier tang sight with Redfield adjustable eye piece. The stock is by Griffin & Howe (mid 1950’s) modified by reducing the height at the comb. The wood is highly figured American walnut with long, rounded, checkered forearm and checkered pistol grip buttstock with cheek piece, 13-1/4″ over an extension and thin pad. The forearm has a reproduction case head inlaid near the tip. The bottom of the bbl, under the forearm, has the rifle serial number and the gunsmith’s initials “JW” (John Wills) in a circle. The hammer has been lightened and its fall shortened. There is a “thru-bolt” in the buttstock to insure stiffness. Accompanied by about 200-rnds of formed & sized brass, a 3-die set of RCBS reloading dies, a Redding sizing & trim die, two molds (1-Lyman & 2- Paul Jones) with a set of RCBS handles, a Wilson swage & punch and a wad cutter. CONDITION: Extremely fine plus. Retains virtually all of its fine custom finish to both metal and wood with bright blue and fine wood finish with the wood having very minor nicks & scratches and an old repair through the wrist.
