VIENNESE SILVER & ENAMEL CLOCK. Very fine Viennese silver clock is decorated around the foot with four round medallions of fine enamel work showing women and cherubs. Each medallion is separated by a silver cherub with enameled green wings. All set against a black enameled background with gold flowers. Riser to the clock is a silver elephant with a monkey on his head and back. The oval clock has enamel decoration around the face with the back of the clock having a wonderful enameled scene of a Greek God with nude maiden atop horse arising from the ocean. Edge of the clock is black enamel with gold floral decoration. When the clock is open and the works lifted up on its hinge, it exposes an enameled scene on the inside back of the clock case with maidens climbing out of an angry ocean onto a huge clam shell. Clock work is marked “Peter Peucher Vienna 710”. SIZE: 7-1/4″ t. PROVENANCE: From the Private Collection of Dorothy Lee Jones.
