CRATED PAPIER MACHE ADVERTISING TIGER. Fabulous life-like full bodied tiger used either as a store display or parade figure. Circa turn of the century. Depicting crouching tiger with mouth in a snarl on a molded naturalistic base marked “Learbury Tiger”, presumably for Learbury Clothiers makers of fine men’s suits in Syracuse, NY and attributed to Old King Cole. Current consignor was told by original owners (who obtained it in the 1920s) that it was made shortly after the turn of the century when Learbury’s was founded. Encased within original packing crate cage marked “Handle With Care This Box Contains Learbury Fashion Display”. SIZE: 76” l x 30” h x 29” d. CONDITION: Very good to near excellent all-original condition having been stored in its crate for so many years. However, with normal usage over the years, it has a very small number of touch-ups to paint chips. 1-8917 APT (2,000-3,000)
