COLT BURGESS LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 44 WCF (44-40). SN 2394. Standard grade rifle, one of only 6,403 made in period 1883-85, with 25-1/2” oct bbl, full magazine, Lyman ivory bead hunting front sight, slot blank in rear sear & a Lyman loop tang sight. Mounted with uncheckered, very nicely figured, slab sawed American walnut with straight stock & crescent buttplate with trap. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains 88-90% orig brown and magazine tube is a light silver/brown patina. Receiver retains 60-70% thin orig blue with natural striation lines down sides, mixed with light patina. Lever & hammer retain thin case colors mixed with silver patina. Forearm has a repair with wood filler in usual place, over loading gate spring, otherwise wood is sound and overall retains most of a fine professionally restored finish.
